Pro Tools hardware:
Analog signals are run into Pro Tools 8.3 LE using a modified DigiDesign 002R
interface with upgraded A/D and D/A converters, upgraded microphone pre-amps and
master clock, and de-coupled power supply along side of a Motu interface
connected by optical I/O. (002R modifications made by Black Lion Audio.) The
system is capable of recording 18 tracks simultaneously and can process 32
tracks simultaneously during playback. Overdubs can be recorded with extremely
low latency.
Gear:
Because Loud Sun exists in several different spaces at this time, what equipment
is available depends on where we are working. Regardless of location and always
within reach are large selections of high quality microphones and microphone
pre-amps, a multitude of outboard signal processing for recording and mixing,
good headphones, guitar and bass amps and speaker cabs, acoustic, electric and
bass guitars, effects pedals, an 88 key weighted keyboard (as well as smaller
keyboards and a digital organ), a variety of quality, maintained drums and drum
hardware, and other various things that come in handy (like black tea!). All
this for no extra cost, but it really helps to know ahead of time if you are
going to need to borrow gear for recording. Please let us know if you need
to borrow amps or instruments for recording ahead of time!
Tape:
We do not currently offer multitrack tape recording. There is a 2 track 1/4" 7-
1/2 ips tape machine that has added some interesting character to mixes in the
past and can be used as requested. Hope to have some examples up in the future.
